About...

SMS Client is a UNIX command line based utility which allows you to send SMS messages to mobile phones and pagers. This software has been written and tested on FreeBSD, and Linux. However, a number of users have reported success running it under both AIX and Solaris. SMS Client currently supports a wide variety of services providers and protocols.

SMS Client is available on FreeBSD, as a port. In the comms category. See sms_client for further details on installing it, if you're using FreeBSD.

Installation

Installation on FreeBSD is easiest, by far;
By way of the FreeBSD ports system:
cd /usr/ports/comms/sms_client make install clean
By way of the FreeBSD pkg system:
pkg install comms/sms_client

  • NEW smsclient 2.0.9a release. download
  • NEW smsclient 2.0.8z release. Only a few changes. download
  • Name Change from now on sms_client will be known as smsclient. We dropped the '_' (underscore). this is especially of high impact on your install /etc/sms_client -> /etc/smsclient!
